The cleaning aisle tells us we need 35 different products to maintain our homes. A spray just for dusting, a foam for grout. It’s overwhelming, creates clutter under the sink, and honestly, it’s unnecessary.
We’re big on simplifying. The same with a capsule wardrobe, cleaning only requires a few good products. A few effective, versatile products will outperform a cabinet full of clutter every time.
That’s your natural cleaning capsule: less overwhelm, fewer chemicals, and a home that still feels incredibly clean.
Start with the everyday basics.
1. You’ll need a natural glass cleaner.
Glass is one of the few surfaces that genuinely benefits from its own product, not because other cleaners can’t work, but because of streaks. A good natural glass cleaner handles mirrors and windows without harsh fumes or chemical residue.
If you want to keep it simple, cleaning vinegar diluted 1:3 with water works beautifully on glass. It’s acidic, it evaporates cleanly, and it leaves no streaks.
2. Next, get an alkaline multi-surface cleaner.
This is the workhorse of your natural cleaning capsule, the one product that handles the majority of surfaces in your home. Countertops, cabinet fronts, appliances, tables, stovetops — an alkaline cleaner cuts through grease and grime without damaging surfaces. Plus, most multi-surface cleaners can be diluted (to around a pH of 9) into floor cleaner for mopping, or concentrated (to a pH of 11 or so) be an effective oven-cleaner. This is where it gets fun!
Look for one that’s safe for natural stone. That specification matters because it means the formula is gentle enough for your most delicate surfaces while still being effective everywhere else. In a pinch, a simple dish soap diluted in water works exactly the same way. It’s alkaline, it’s safe, and it’s already in your kitchen.
That’s it. If you have a professional house cleaning service on a weekly or biweekly routine, you might be set with these two products. We bring everything required for a thorough, natural clean using products we’ve tested across hundreds of homes.

If you don’t have a weekly house cleaner, add these also.
3. Make sure to get a toilet bowl cleaner.
This is another product that earns its own category. Toilets need something with enough acidity and disinfecting power to handle what they’re up against, and your multi-surface cleaner isn’t the right tool here. A natural toilet bowl cleaner handles this without bleach or harsh fumes, and it’s the one thing we’d never skip.
4. Look for an acidic shower + tub cleaner.
Acids eat minerals, like the hard water that builds up in showers. That’s why most shower cleaners are acidic. However, be cautious about using acids on marble showers, as they’ll damage the finish.
Additionally, this is one area where dissolvable cleaning tablets shine over bottled products. Because you dilute it yourself with water, these tables require no preservatives, which limits parabens. If you’re trying to clean up your lifestyle and reduce what you’re exposing your family to, a dissolvable cleaning tablet is one of the cleanest choices you can make.
5. Consider something abrasive.
For the occasional stubborn job like baked-on grime, grout, or tough stains, you need a little friction. While there are some great alternatives on the market, baking soda is all you really need. It’s mildly abrasive, completely natural, and safe on most surfaces. Sprinkle it on, add a little dish soap or vinegar, and scrub. Done.

6. If you have pets, add an enzymatic cleaner.
For accidents specifically, enzymatic cleaners are the only thing that truly eliminates odor at the source. They break down the proteins in pet waste rather than masking the smell. It’s not a daily-use product, but it earns a spot in any pet home’s capsule.

Don’t lose the plot when it comes to natural cleaning.
Natural products are created for healthier living. When we overcomplicate that, we add clutter and cortisol that just aren’t needed. Keep it simple, keep it natural, and don’t let the cleaning aisle convince you otherwise.
If you’d rather skip the products entirely and leave it to a team that already has everything they need, we’d love to help. Find your nearest Lemon Fresh Cleaners location:
