Kickstart your week with a fresh start by giving your fridge a satisfying restock! Whether you’re meal prepping or just want some healthy grab & go options for the kiddos, a well-stocked fridge is an essential. Here’s our fridge restock checklist.
Start with a clean workspace.
Interior refrigerator cleaning is consistently at the top of our clients’ wish lists. In fact, it’s our second most common add-on! (Here’s the first.) At Lemon Fresh Cleaners, we understand the importance of maintaining a hygienic and organized fridge space. Plus, it sets the stage for an aesthetic restock after.
Load up on fresh fruits + veg.
This is a no-brainer – every fridge needs an assortment of fresh produce. Plus, they’re pretty to look at. We’re big on cucumbers, spinach, avocado, squash, and zucchini. If you’re frustrated with watching your veggies go bad, it’s a good idea to choose some longer-lasting options. For example, carrots, beets, spaghetti squash, cabbage, onions, and celery can last up to a month. As far as fruit, apples last forever. Also, lemons!
Next, plan your proteins.
This is where meal planning comes in handy, so your pricey protein sources don’t go to waste. Or focus on versatile options like rotisserie chicken, ground beef, lean beef cuts, bacon, pork chops, or chicken thighs. After all, everyone knows the thighs are where it’s at for cost and flavor. Thighs, guys. Also, you could stock plant-based options like tofu and beans. Lastly, colorful farm-fresh eggs are a staple for us.
Grab your dairy and alternatives.
Don’t forget to stock up on the milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, coffee creamer, cheese and cream cheese. Also, if you have food allergies in the family, be sure to get alternatives like oat milk, almond milk, or other options.
Store herbs in water.
Whenever we buy the little packs of herbs, they go bad quickly. Instead, we started putting the stems in water and now they last forever in the fridge! Better yet, you could plant and grow your herbs and pick them as you need them.
Don’t forget the snacks.
You didn’t think we’d forget these, did you? Our favorite easy snacks to have on hand are string cheese, pre-portioned applesauce, jello cups, salsa, beef sticks, boiled eggs, olives, pickles, hummus, and guac.
Last, some healthy beverages.
We like to load up on sparkling water, prebiotic soda, kombucha, coconut water, and our own homemade celery juice. Actually, Shane requests a bottle in the fridge at all times! It’s easy to make – just toss roughly chopped celery into a blender with drinking water and portion into bottles. Also, it’s fun to add cucumber, apples, lemon, fresh mint, or any other produce you need to use up.
A fridge restock checklist benefits mental health.
In general, a clean home is shown to promote relaxation, improve mood, and enhance quality of sleep. Morale for the troops, so to speak. Additionally, the same goes for having healthy food options on hand. Not to mention, when we have a variety of nutritious options readily available, we’re less likely to opt for unhealthy snacks or takeout, which further helps improve our general outlook on life.
We’re happy to set the stage for a gorgeous fridge restock! Simply reach out to add refrigerator cleaning to any existing service. Happy restocking!
